GROTTO Submission
This week was the deadline for the GROTTO prints, which I was able to finalise and submit yesterday. I became a little worried towards the deadline as I didn’t feel completely happy with the final development of my cyanotypes, but got there in the end thankfully!
Without having a UV light, the exposure time is a real guessing game and sunlight in Morecambe is an all too rare occurrence, so several overcast days ensued upon my windowsill.
In the end, I opted for a double exposure of my cello and a photograph from a recent trip to Wastwater - two of my favourite things; music and the outdoors, which I aptly named, Utopia. It’s of course a very personal composition and print, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed creating. Cyanotype was a completely new and exciting medium for me, but as I’ve said previously, seemed the perfect opportunity especially with my love of photography.
I’m delighted with the outcome and do hope that collectively we are able to sell enough prints during the GROTTO event in London to cover some of the costs involved with the end of year show next year.
