Thinking Ahead

I’m noticing a stack of cyanotypes starting to take over my kitchen. Many of which are failed experiments, using a range of papers, chemicals and processes, but it seems a shame for them to sit in my doom pile or be discarded at some future point.

I work closely with the Gregson Community Arts Centre in Lancaster, running the repair cafe there, Crafty Kids and the soon to be – resurrection of Drink & Draw. The Gregson also run monthly exhibitions for local artists and I am fortunate enough to have shown my photography previously as part of my Hear Me Raw exhibition. A lovely fellow artist Lidia Ranns facilitates the monthly exhibiton and has penciled me in for another one in Spetember. Whilst I have a lot to organise before then for my final show etc, I’ve contacted Lidia to make plans to show my cyanotypes – the successes AND the failures. I want to highlight the entire process and hopefully I will also have my final pieces for the CSM show which I will show at the Gregson along with the other pieces.

This feels like a great way to think beyond my MA and how this body of work will evolve and hopefully also raise my artist profile and awareness of my work and what it represents.
